Proposed Intersection Improvements

OVERVIEW

14 Intersections were analyzed with Proposed Improvements Highpoint 2222 is a mixed-use community that could be built in five phases over the next decade, with final completion around 2035. When finished, it could include 1,250 mid-rise apartment units and 65,000 square feet of retail space in a shopping plaza.

The project is designed to be built gradually, with a small shopping plaza in the first phase and apartments and additional retail added in later phases. It could also be much less dense depending upon future site plans.

The Transportation Impact Analysis puts a cap on the number of vehicle trips allowed. What specific improvements could be made to our roads? A comprehensive improvement plan is required for the first phase of the project.

This includes major upgrades like:

• Adding new turn lanes at major intersections like RM2222/Bullick Hollow and RM 2222/River Place Blvd to increase capacity.

• Installing a new, modern traffic signal at RM 2222 and Ribelin Ranch Drive to improve safety and flow.

• Building a roundabout at River Place Blvd and Four Points Drive to keep traffic moving more efficiently than a traditional stop-controlled intersection.

• Optimizing signal timing and upgrading detection equipment at several other intersections along RM 2222 to make the lights smarter and more responsive. But this depends on the City and TxDot prioritizing and approving the Street Impacts Fee money to upgrade the intersections.

This is why we are asking you to weigh in on the intersection priorities. Karlin is responsible for mitigating the traffic impacts caused by their Highpoint 2222 development, but they are not responsible for solving the entire corridor's intersections.
