IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Updated May 27, 2011: Status of Champion restricted covenant amendment case
Case Number C14-91-0015(RCA), Champion Commercial Development - Restrictive Covenant Amendment was heard by the City Council on May 26 at about 7:30 pm. The outcome was uncertain until the very end as both sides presented their cases well.
But in the end, the neighborhoods prevailed as the City Council voted 6 to 1 to deny the request to amend the restrictive covenant!
Many thanks to the hundreds of neighbors who sent emails to the Council in opposition to the amendment. And a very special thanks to those neighbors who made the trek to City Hall and waited for hours to speak, to donate time to other speakers, or to lend much-needed moral support.
It was the joint efforts of several neighborhood associations and many, many individuals that brought about the positive outcome. Once again, it demonstrates the power of working cooperatively to address concerns in our area. Together, we do make a difference!
Neighborhood, homeowner and civic associations who were on record as opposing the restricted covenant amendments:

Updated January 29, 2011: TxDOT's project to replace the RM 2222 bridge over Bull Creek has now moved into Phase III to construct the northern half of the bridge. RM 2222 will remain in its present three-lane configuration (one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes) for the remainder of the project. Traffic has been shifted onto the newly-completed southern portion of the Bull Creek Bridge to allow construction of the second half of the bridge. Lakewood Drive will be closed to all traffic at RM 2222 except for emergency response vehicles. All local traffic will access Lakewood Drive by way of the intersection with Loop 360. Lakewood Drive will not reopen to traffic at RM 2222 until the project is completed, which is anticipated to be around January 2012.
Work on the roadway will also result in the temporary closures of the Bull Creek Market driveway on westbound RM 2222 and the free right turn lane from westbound RM 2222 to northbound Loop 360. TxDOT will continue to work to optimize operations at the intersection of Loop 360 and RM 2222 and to minimize the inconvenience caused by the construction project.
